Watching the processes of nature is amazing. Her udder has been swelling for days and we've known the time was coming soon. Keeping a family milk cow is a great pleasure and today, birthing day, is both a huge payoff and a stressful event. When you are new farmers, any problem you have will be your first experience of it so it's hard not to worry a little. In this video we show the nitty gritty of the birthing process, including labor, amniotic sack breaking, lots of body fluid and through it all out jersey milk cow is a champ. The calf's sire is a Dexter bull. Of all the things we have seen while farming, gardening, caring for animals, and homesteading, watching a cow give birth is one of the most amazing things we have seen.
