From the "jerk guitar guy," to hyper competitiveness, and even the straight up bully, it's time to shed light on what's been hurting Guitar Culture. Today, I'll share my personal reasons for starting guitar and how one's abilities on the instrument seem to tie into self-worth. When your self worth is wrapped up in other's perceptions of you, that's a fragile ecosystem for your mental health, and breeding ground for people to put others down. The problem with Guitar Culture is probably most apparent when we look at the YouTube comments section. I'll go over the top 5 meanest, and in some ways, hilarious hate comments I've received on my channel.we uncover some of the most toxic and hilarious hate comments. Finally, I'll offer practical solutions to combat negativity in guitar culture. By genuinely loving the instrument, channeling insecurities into practice, and remembering that being a bully is counterproductive, we can foster a more encouraging and inclusive community.
