In this flight: Continuing checkride prep with gusty wind, autos, river flight and max performance take-offs, run on landing and takeoffs. New/What Did I Learn?: Watch that manifold pressure - use the WIND to your advantage!! Running takeoffs and landings can be difficult on the wrong surface :-/ This was a windy day (gusting 16 kts). We aimed for our A3 spot but the wind was tricky and the airspeed getting close to 0 was weirding me out. We made sure to keep a watch on power (limiting manifold pressure - we were pulling close to 25"). Quick stops are early on with a mistake of me using LEFT pedal instead of RIGHT pedal after lowering the collective. We then did what ended up being a max performance takeoff to a landing and and got into running take off and landing. We moved over to the grass but it was really thick and was difficult to execute. Moving to some hover landings where I improved and cushioned the fall. We then headed over to where we normally do a confined area/steep approach practice but there seemed to be people there so we moved on to flying over the rive at about 150-200 feet, keeping a sharp eye out for power lines and their accompanying poles. WATCH OUT FOR POWER LINES and CROSS AS THE POLES!! Make sure to watch in 1080HD and full screen on all devices! If you've got the time, I've got the full length lesson videos! This is flight 27 in my goal of a helicopter add-on rating in a Robinson R22 Beta helicopter at John C. Tune airport, KJWN, west of Nashville, TN. This is an unedited and and lightly cut video of the entire lesson. No music. No editing. I hope you learn from what I do correctly and also from what I do incorrectly. I fly with HeliStar Aviation. If you're in the Middle Tennessee area, check them out!!!: http://flyhelistar.com/ and / flyhelistar Total Helicopter Flights without this lesson: 26 Total Helicopter Flight Time without this lesson: 35.2 hours (25.1 dual, 10.1 solo) This lesson flight time: 1.0 dual Thank you for watching!
