Let’s take a look back at the sequel and go over some things that you may have not known. #1: Caroline Williams decided that she wanted to get the attention of the casting director during her audition. As soon as she was called in, she ran down the hall screaming, ran into the casting room, pulled Tobe Hooper out of his chair, and used it to barricade the door. #2: Dennis Hopper said that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was the worst movie he’d ever been in. Then, in 1993, he did the Super Mario Bros. movie, and let’s just say he changed his mind #3: The make-up effects for Grandpa in the film were pretty damn good. As a matter of fact, legendary make-up effects artist, Tom Savini, considers it to be one of his achievements that he’s most proud of. #4: Originally, the character of Stretch was going to be Lefty Enright’s illegitimate daughter. This would later be cut from the script. #5: Nubbins, the corpse that Chop-Top is always carrying around, is actually supposed to be the dead body of The Hitchhiker from the original movie. #6: The famous group shot of the family is actually a satire on the famous The Breakfast Club cover art. #7: Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel, writers of the original Chainsaw, actually had an idea for a sequel that would have been drastically different than what we got. The film would take place in an entire town that was populated with cannibals. The film would be called “Beyond The Valley Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” but the studio didn’t like this idea. Therefore, they hired new screenwriters and the rest is history. #8: Director, Tobe Hooper, actually has a brief cameo in the film as one of the rowdy football fans. #9: The way Bill Moseley got his role as Chop-Top is actually a very interesting story. Originally, Moseley was trying to get on Saturday Night Live, so he shot a short film entitled The Texas Chainsaw Manicure. After showing it to some friends, one of his friends said that Tobe Hooper was actually working at a studio nearby and wondered if Moseley would be cool if he showed the short film to Hooper. Moseley agreed. A week or two passed and Bill Moseley was able to get Hooper’s phone number from a friend. He called up Tobe Hooper, asked him what he thought of the short film, and Hooper said he enjoyed it and that if he ever made Chainsaw 2, he would keep Moseley in mind. #10: Originally, Tobe Hooper just wanted to produce the movie. However, due to the film being a low budget affair, Hooper came on as Director, as they weren’t able to afford a suitable director.
