UE’s Lualhati Building… Located along Sergio H. Loyola (née Lepanto) Street and right behind the Campus’s Santiago F. Dela Cruz (SFC) Building, the Lualhati Building stands on what was previously UE’s College of Engineering-Manila Building, College of Arts and Sciences-Manila Building, and St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. Those structures had been campus fixtures for some five decades until the Saturday morning of April 2, 2016, when the CAS Building caught fire and affecting the neighboring CEng’g Building and Chapel. There were no casualties as the school year was already over, but the structures were no longer ideal for use. Soon enough, Management rose to the occasion and mobilized manpower and resources towards rebuilding. This led to the demolition of the ruins, to give way to a brand-new building—the groundbreaking for which was held on the Monday morning of September 25, 2017, on UE’s 71st Foundation Anniversary. Now, six years hence and a waning global pandemic later, the Lualhati Building is a full-fledged reality. Standing at 10 floors tall, it houses the respective new classrooms, administrative offices and faculty rooms of CEng’g Manila and CAS Manila, as well as of the UE College of Computer Studies and Systems, and the University’s new St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. The building also has its own Lualhati Library. And in addition to elevators, the building is likewise equipped with energy-efficient escalators. And on the topmost level is the Lucio K. Tan Jr. Gymnasium, the campus’s newest gym which is named after the late former UE Trustee who was best known as Bong Tan, and son of the UE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Lucio C. Tan. Our thanks to the Almighty and all who have made the Lualhati Building a grand reality! #UEManila #LualhatiBuilding #UEMilestone #fUElingFutureSuccessStories #SaUEKaNa #LetYourTomorrowBeginintheEast
