On Vietnam Moratorium Day, November 15, 1969, over 500,000 people - at least as many people as there were at Woodstock, if not more - congregated in Washington to hear anti-war speeches and performances from musical artists. This is the first of three songs that Peter, Paul & Mary played at the rally, Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changing". Peter Yarrow, singing a duet here with bandmate Mary Travers, was one of the principal organizers of the entire event, and was responsible for inviting all other performers to the rally. "I got married between the moratorium rally in October and the March on Washington in November," recalls Peter, "and I remember saying to my wife, 'We can't have a honeymoon.' I became very involved in organizing the artists who took part in the march. It not only brought people together to say 'We cannot continue to fight this war', but it also challenged the entire notion of the way in which we were leading our lives. In a political way, it was the counterpoint to Woodstock. It was a celebration of life." Playlist for the Moratorium Day event: • Moratorium Day, November 15, 1969
