I recently had the opportunity to test out the new Thermoworks RFX Wireless thermometer: (affiliate link - if you buy through that link you help support this channel) Thermoworks RFX: https://completecarnivore.com/thermow... For the past couple years I have wanted to dip my toe into the wireless probe world but all the other wireless options I saw had some pretty major issues when it comes to range, connectivity, and durability. Thermoworks has been my go-to thermometer for quite a while and you will see an Thermoworks product in pretty much every video. I use the Thermapen One and the Smoke X4 all the time. So when Thermoworks announced the RFX I was stoked. Overall I love this as a wireless option. One of the things I hate most about using a wired thermometer is cleaning the probe wires. Not sure why I hate it so much but having wireless probes like the Thermoworks RFX is a perfect solution. The probes are waterproof so you can throw them in the dishwasher if you want but I probably would avoid that. I just wiped them with a dishcloth and they were clean and ready to go for the next cook. The set up was super simple and everything paired up without a hitch. Just hold the probes next to the gateway and they connect. Not much too it. Accuracy and precision are unquestioned with pretty much all Thermoworks products. If I had any gripes I would love a display on the Gateway. The Thermoworks app works great and gives you all the info you need but if I am cooking other stuff and my hands are a mess I would rather just glance at a display rather than getting my phone all messy. When I wrapped the turkey breasts in foil the connection did drop. Not sure if that is because of the foil or just my wonky wi-fi connection. The RFX is designed to communicate through thick steel smokers and dutch ovens so I doubt that was the foil's fault but I will need to do a bit more testing on that. Overall I would highly recommend the RFX. It will be right up there with the Smoke X4 as my choice for temperature monitoring for low and slow cooks. I rarely use a probe thermometer for quick cooks like steaks or chops or chicken pieces but for stuff like pork butts, briskets, turkey breast, and the like this is an excellent option.
