Installing Vinyl Cut Letters on Clear Acrylic Substrate

Freedom Creative Solutions of Winston-Salem, NC demonstrates how to install printed, cut vinyl letters. The decal, or cut letters, of their logo has mask / transfer tape already applied. The decal has been centered on the acrylic substrate. The hinge technique is used to apply one side at a time to get the most accurate and easiest installation. Using a small squeegee, the cut vinyl is applied while practicing the "raking" motion method with a squeegee as opposed to the pushing method. This method helps to prevent creases in the vinyl during the application. It is important that once the vinyl is applied, but before the tape is removed, to go back over the piece again with the squeegee while using the same "racking" method. Then carefully pull the mask / transfer tape using a very hard angle. This helps to eliminate the possibility of pulling up of any of the vinyl, especially the thinner or smaller section that would not yet have as good a grip to the substrate as large pieces. Any small bubbles of air that may have been trapped during installation will dissipate due the air release properties of the high quality 3M vinyl used.
