** Filmed Feb. 22, 2020 - before Pennsylvania's Stay-At-Home orders were issued ** The Borough of Jim Thorpe is a picturesque tourist destination nestled in the southern end of Lehigh Gorge. There's only a few ways in and out of it, but 209 is my favorite and the most practical for most of my travels. Join me as we head out of Lehigh Gorge State Park, cross the Lehigh River, pass through the downtown, then climb up the mountain to Canyon Rim Estates' "Free 100 Mile View." NOTE: "South" on Route 209 in this video refers to the compass direction we're traveling in. You'll nice the signs actually say "209 North." That's because it does a zig-zag through Jim Thorpe that reverses the compass direction from the overall direction of the highway. Confusing, right? Oops!
