They look lovingly at one another. He makes her a seat. She sits down. Signs of love in the shape of a heart appear above his head. He suddenly looks shy and embarrassed and scrapes the ground with his foot. He goes down on one knee and proposes marriage. "Marry me!! and I'll protect you with my life" "She gets up and nods. They kiss and embrace. A bear enters the scene. Felix and then Kitty run away, chased by the bear. Felix saves himself. A very craven and feline Felix jumps onto the branch of the a tree. He has a fluffy tail. Kitty calls to be saved. Felix ignores her in his blind fear. She runs off, pursued by the bear. She runs into a cave. "Help" comes out of the cave entrance. Felix gingerly approaches. He prepares to go in but is scared off by growling. Stars and words emerge from the cave. A battered, bandaged and star-seeing bear is thrown from the cave. Kitty exits ?? The bear flees. Felix ducks behind a tree. Felix emerges and tries to embrace Kitty. She refuses and denounces him as a coward. She prods him on the arm, knocking him down. She storms off haughtily. Felix is crestfallen. A heart above his head breaks. He wanders despondently. A tree calls him a coward. Felix decides to commit suicide. "I'll end it all". "Farewell cruel world". He jumps from a cliff towards a lake. As he is about to hit the water he espies a bottle and the action is reversed as Felix picks up the bottle and lands back on the cliff top. In the bottle are instructions for finding Captain Kiddo's treasure. A skull and crossbones logo is on the paper. Felix is delighted and jumps in the air excitedly. The image of Kitty appears to taunt Felix. She calls him a coward. Felix sitting in a tub and smoking a large cigar as he goes in search of treasure across the ocean. We se that his barrel is being transported by a shark. The shark is distracted by a pretty female shark wearing a skirt who calls "Yoo-hoo" to him. He dives after female shark. Felix is thrown out of his boat and starts swimming, He slops out on island and spits out a fish. He thinks up a question mark and hauls himself out of the sea with its help. He espies a sign "Mystery Island. "Real Estate for Sale". He runs along his line of sight to the sign. He takes the pirates treasure instructions out and reads them. He spies a big rock and runs towards it. He leans against it. The "rock" wobbles. It is actually an angry elephant. Felix flees. He espies the real big rock. He takes six paces backwards, turns. A chasm is at his feet. He takes four paces into the air, three paces vertically in the air, somersaults onto the other side of chasm and reaches tree. A skull and crossbones is drawn on tree and there is a skull on the ground. The tree has a cutlass buried in it and a gun is on the ground. Happy Felix jumps in the air. He takes a box out of the hollow tree. "Hurrah! The treasure at last!" He imagines a string of pearls, opens the treasure chest and is disgusted when he pulls out a bottle. It is labelled Pre-war prune Juice. This is a Prohibition gag. Felix shrugs, pulls the cork out, sniffs, gets stars round his head because the drink smells so bad and swigs the bottle. Stars and bubbles appear. Felix jumps in the air. He is impressed and kisses the bottle. He drinks some more and is drunk. He staggers about happily. Felix hiccups and continues to drink. he spits on the ground and causes a small explosion. One of his "Hic"s turns into an elephant which flashes alternately black and white. it then develops polka dots which flash on and off, followed by black and white stripes. Drunken Felix endeavours to fight the elephant. He rolls up his sleeves and prepares to box the elephant, which promptly disappears. Felix blindly punches thin air. Briefly baffled when he opens his eyes to see an elephant, he resumes being drunk. He laughs, hiccups and walks about. He drinks some more, spits again and hiccups a tiger. This flashes black and white. Felix pulls up his sleeves. He again shadow boxes thin air... Huntley Film Archives is a film library holding tens of thousands of films.
