Description This is a quick real-world test of the Blazar Talon 50mm f2.1 1.5x anamorphic lens shot on the Sony A1 II at the University of Washington campus just before the cherry blossoms bloom. This footage was also shot with a 1/4 Black Diffusion filter, which slightly softens the image and adds bloom to highlights. Keep that in mind when looking at contrast and highlight behavior. I wanted to see if shooting at 120p with a 1/60 shutter would reduce the judder when panning while still keeping enough motion blur for normal speed playback. Most of the footage follows Erin walking through campus, along with a few wider environmental shots to show how the lens renders space and movement. Everything was shot on a DJI RS4 Pro gimbal with the Sony A1 II. This is not meant to be a formal review, just real-world footage to see how the Blazar Talon behaves with people in frame and practical highlights around campus. Because of the 1.5x squeeze, the lens produces a noticeably wider image even at 50mm, which gives scenes a different sense of scale compared to typical spherical lenses.
