I never got the chance to learn the woodworking from my late Grampa, but I'm not letting that stop me. Welcome to my one-year plan to learn the art of woodworking from him by recreating five of his signature projects, step by step. Each project is a chapter, laid out in my beginner woodworking skill tree: The AACBANO Apprentice. The Tree outlines the five projects from least to most difficult, and breaks down all of the techniques I'll need to master in order to successfully recreate them and build like Grampa. From his workshop to my own, I'll learn from his projects and tools, navigating my successes, my challenges, and everything in between. So, whether you're a seasoned woodworker like Grampa or just starting out like me, I hope you'll join me as I fumble my way through the AACBANO Apprentice and learn woodworking from the best teacher there ever was. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video Chapters: 00:00 - 00:33 Intro 00:33 - 5:31 My Woodworking Journey 5:31 - 7:30 The Skill Tree (AACBANO Apprentice) 7:30 - 8:18 The Octagonal Mirror 8:18 - 9:06 The Knickknack Shelf 9:06 - 9:58 The Coat Rack 9:58 - 11:52 The Side Table 11:52 - 13:22 - The Blanket Box 13:22 - 15:02 Outro Credit to original skill tree creator: YouTube: @trejayne Instagram: / trejayne TikTok: / trejayne Watch more videos like this! "Any Axe-Hole Can Buy A New One" (AACBANO), is a saying that’s been passed down in my family for generations and one that my grampa lived by. It represents a belief in self-sufficiency, resourcefulness, and getting things done. While his version of the saying wasn’t quite so PG (his rendition included a different kind of a-hole), the sentiment was the same; in a world rife with disposable, mass-produced products built out of cardboard, why not fix it or build it yourself? Besides, someone out there knows how, so why can’t that someone be you? About My Grandfather’s Axe: My Grandfather’s Axe follows a beginner woodworker’s journey learning the craft from her late grandfather’s tools. It’s about inheriting his carpentry knowledge by building with his very tools, all while adding her own unique mark. This channel is built on authenticity, highlighting the real mistakes and frustrations of the learning process instead of hiding them. From home renovations, to carpentry, to fine woodworking, join the genuine (often comical) journey of a beginner learning the trade!
