About the Talk: The talk delves into the issue of propaganda in school history textbooks, primarily focusing on concerns related to the historical content and terminology choices spanning the past 70 years. The speaker highlights several troubling aspects, including attempts to foster discord between Sanskrit and Dravidian languages, the negative representation of Hinduism, and the vilification of key historical figures like King Prithviraj Chauhan III and Queen Rudramadevi. One of the primary concerns raised by the speaker is the potential impact on young and impressionable minds. The manipulation of historical content and terminology choices in educational materials can have a significant and detrimental influence on how students perceive their own history and culture. The motivations of the authors of these textbooks come into question as well. What drives these individuals to craft such content? Are there political or ideological motives at play? #Propaganda #Textbooks #History #NCERT #Education #Hinduism #HistoricalFigures #CulturalPerception #CIS #IndicTalks About the Speaker: Dr. V Ramanathan: Dr. V.
