Maintenance and cleaning are two of the most important steps in caring for your espresso machine. Excess coffee residue will begin to build up in your machine if it is not cleaned regularly, and this can start to alter the taste and flavor of the espresso shots that you deliver. Cleaning your espresso machine regularly will save you from needing to make repairs to your machine. Follow this 9-step guide and learn how to clean your Bambino™ Plus by performing a cleaning cycle. Directions: 1. When the ‘1-cup’ and ‘2-cup’ buttons start flashing alternatively, it is an indication that your espresso machine needs to be cleaned. 2. Insert the provided silicone cleaning disc inside the filter basket and place both inside the portafilter. 3. Place a cleaning tablet on top of the cleaning disc and then place the portafilter into the group head. 4. Empty the drip tray and place it back into the machine. 5. Fill the water tank until you reach the MAX line and place the tank into the back of the machine. 6. To enter the cleaning cycle, press ‘1-cup’, ‘2- cup’ and the ‘Steam’ buttons for five seconds to enter the cleaning mode. 7. Then press either ‘1-cup’ or ‘2-cup’ to begin the cleaning cycle. When the cycle is in progress the lights will alternatively flash. 8. When the cycle is complete, the machine will go back into ready mode. The cleaning tablet should be completely dissolved, if this hasn’t happened, repeat the process until it is clear. 9. Remove and rinse the portafilter, cleaning disc, drip tray and container and return them back to your machine. A filter basket rinse should also be done before and after making your cup of coffee.
