The SIT should not investigate the case only based on the note, which was found a few days later at his hostel room, but should investigate the case based on the caste based discrimination faced by Darshan, said Ramesh Solanki. "We have submitted all the related evidence to the SIT officials' ', he said adding the SIT is free to do anything with Arman Khatri, who was arrested in this case. The evidence adds to many already submitted testimonies regarding the caste discrimination by his family members and a fellow IIT student. In their statements all emphasized that Darshan was being harassed because of his caste. He even wanted to change his room, because of the harassment from his room mates. His peers mocked him for his questions about the know - how of computers, electronic gadgets and other subject matters, he said. He also said that the hand writing on the suicide note does not seems of his son. His daughter Janvi also denied the same. Earlier, the SIT officials had said that the handwriting of Darshan was matched with the suicide note, which was on a paper and was recovered from Darshan's hostel room. Darshan's sister Janvi Solanki also demanded the case should be probed on the basis of caste based discrimination. She also demanded that the cloned copies of all the electronic devices of her brother, which the SIT had with them, should be given to the family members. According to us the major reason was foreseen for Darshan Solanki to commit suicide is the caste based discrimination, which is prevelent in IIT Bombay and elsewhere, said former MP Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar. "Despite giving several instances and proofs that Darshan Solanki was compelled to commit suicide due to caste based discrimination, we do not know what preventing the SIT to examine and investigate these issue from the caste point of view," he said. It is extremely concerning seeing the manner in which the investigation is being conducted sidelining the caste based discrimination faced by Darshan and also how the family is kept in the dark about the same, he said. The investigation ostensibly being conducted by the SIT and the police authorities does not inspire confidence and is only trying to cover up the caste based discrimination that Darshan faced in IIT Bombay, he said. The family also demanded immediate intervention in the matter to ensure that the crucial evidence is not lost or ignored and so that the family gets justice, he said.
