Motorized spiral enteroscopy: results of an international multicenter prospective observational clinical study in patients with normal and altered gastrointestinal anatomy by Torsten Beyna, Tom Moreels, Marianna Arvanitakis et al. Summary: Safety, efficacy, and learning curves associated with motorized spiral enteroscopy were prospectively studied in 298 patients (21% with a prior abdominal surgery, including 10% with surgically altered anatomy). An overall serious adverse event rate (the primary outcome) of 2.3% was reported. Total enteroscopy was achieved in 50% of patients in whom it was planned and the anatomical region of interest could be reached in 88% of cases.
