Kyosho's Ultima SC is designed to be the most fun, high-performance short-course truck on the market. It features the DNA of the competition-bred RT5 plus a host of new features that make it ideally suited to the SC class, whether you're a beginner or expert driver. The Ultima SC comes completely factory assembled, which means all you have to do is supply a battery pack, charger and some AA-size alkaline batteries for the radio and you're ready to go. the body comes pre-painted with the decals applied, and it's already trimmed, so it's ready to mount right out of the box. The body mount locations are identical to that of the Slash, which means the bodies are interchangeable and any aftermarket bodies designed for the Slash will also fit the Ultima SC. The Ultima SC shares many of the exact same chassis and suspension components as the RT5 - the chassis is simply stretched 40mm to accomodate the wheelbase requirements of the SC class. That means the SC benefits from the same high-tech composites that Kyosho has develop in their 27+ years of electric off-road racing, and more than 30 years in other categories. Note that all of the hinge pins are captured - the safest and strongest choice when attaching suspension components. Captured pins will rarely come loose, and there are no small and unwieldy retainers that can pop loose and become lost at the worst possible moment. Composite shocks feature double O-ring seals, a volume compensating diaphragm, and threaded spring pre-load adjusters for quick and independent adjustment of spring pre-load (ride height) at all four corners. These are the same features as the competition shocks used on most vehicles, which means you'll have nearly every advantage of the same shocks used by the pros. 12mm hex hubs, which Kyosho has been using since the 80's, have been adopted as the standard in the SC class, and the Ultima SC is fitted with them front and rear. A floating front axle means there's no bearings installed in the wheels. Instead, the bearings are installed in the steering knuckles. This helps to protect the bearings better than those that are mounted in the wheel, and it also allows the use of the 12mm hubs front and rear. That means owners of the Ultima SC can not only rotate the tires front to rear, it means that all wheels developed for other trucks also using a 12mm hex will fit the Ultima SC. Heavy-duty bumpers front and rear protect the Ultima SC from the hardest impacts. Specially designed to absorb big impacts, the bumpers and braces are specially engineered to flex and rebound from a hard crash, preserving the chassis and suspension components, as well as the bumpers themselves. Side guards also protect the SC from hard side collisions, and support the body side panels to keep the body looking good for as long as possible. A Kyosho Perfex KA15L Electronic Speed Control (ESC) is factory installed, along with all the other electronics. The ESC is a dual-profile until that is compatible with both Ni-MH and LiPo batteries. A LiPo profile activates a low-voltage cutoff curcuit to protect your LiPo pack from becoming damaged from excessive discharge. The ESC also features fully proportional braking, and reverse. The reverse function can be disabled for racing where reverse is not allowed. A G20 motor is included with the Ultima SC. It's an economical yet powerful motor that is able to capable of a very aggressive pace. This high-quality motor features special compound electrical brushes for long life, and the commutator section is cooled by an internal fan. The transmission features the same effiecient three-gear designed for the competition RT5 and RB5 buggies. An adjustable double-disc slipper stands between the motor and transmission. The one area that's unique to the Ultima SC is the gear-type differential. In keeping with the defacto class standards, the SC includes a gear diff, but it's no ordinarl gear diff. It features four internal spider gears and two outdrive gears for a total of 6. this is the same type of differential design used in the big 1/8 nitro buggies for decades. The diff installed in the SC is exceptionally smooth, and can be tuned with some optional silicone diff fluid.
