2023 BYD Song Plus – All Electric BYD Crossover

The new BYD Song Plus EV now looks more desirable than the old 2021 model year version. It has a new styling, more powerful electric motor and some extra millimeters that can enlarge its interior space. All in all, this vehicle became better from every side. The new BYD Song Plus EV was exposed by the Chinese regulator (MIIT). It has appeared to be bigger than the current Song Plus EV. Moreover, it has more horses and adopts a new design language. Let’s get to know it better. As we can see in the MIIT images, the new Song Plus EV shares the Marine Aesthetics design language. Its headlights are similar to the BYD Seal sedan. It is a bit confusing because the Song is a part of the Dynasty series, while the Seal represents the Ocean series. It seems that borders between these lines are blurring. Aside from headlights, the Song Plus EV’s front bumper became way sportier with huge air intakes. Worth mentioning that the “宋” (Song) hieroglyph was also replaced with the “BYD” inscription. It hints on the international market ambitions. From the side, the Song Plus EV has an all-new design with smooth taillight units, joined by an LED strip. It also has a pair of air vents in the rear bumper. The new Song Plus EV’s dimensions are 4785/1890/1660 mm with a wheelbase of 2765 mm. So, it became 80 mm longer and 20 mm lower than the current version. As for the wheelbase, it remained unchanged. The new Song Plus EV is underpinned by the e-platform 3.0. As other BYD vehicles, it will be equipped with an LFP Blade battery made by FinDreams Company. Its capacity is unknown yet. As for the electric motors, the BYD Song Plus EV will have two options. The entry-level will be equipped with the BYD’s TZ200XQS motor, similar to the BYD Yuan Plus EV. Its power output reaches 204 hp and 310 Nm. As for the second option, it is a new TZ200XYM electric motor for 218 horses. Worth mentioning that the BYD Song Plus EV will have optional wheel covers, rearview mirrors with cameras, a panoramic sunroof, colored brake calipers, etc. It can be equipped with 235/55 R18, 235/50 R19, or 245/45 R20 wheels. As for the curb weight, it is 1920-2050 kg. And the gross weight of the Song Plus EV lies in the 2295-2425 kg range. We should also mention that on one of the shots, the BYD Song Plus EV is called “护卫舰05” (Frigate 05). It seems that it will be the name of its PHEV version that was also spied in China. and once again, we can see how BYD erases borders between Dynasty and Ocean series.
