ETC Gameplay - Heroes of the Storm Guide

E.T.C., the Elite Tauren Chieftain, is a Warrior from the WarCraft universe. He is a blast to play, extremely disruptive, and newly relevant in the current meta. If you haven't tried him out previously or are new to the Beta, give him a shot. He is beginner friendly and offers some funny abilities. His trait, Rockstar, grants 20% Attack Speed for 3 seconds to all nearby allies upon using an ability. Minions receive half of that bonus. This trait is great for upping the damage output of your team's assassins, particularly auto attack based heroes. Powerslide, Q, runs over enemies offering a 1 second stun and a small dose of damage (67 at level 1, 200 at 20). Face Melt, W, provides damage (55 at 1, 150 at 20) and disruption, a knock-back, as well. Combo-ed together these two abilities can allow for effective engages or disengages as the situation may call for. They are great at further exposing an enemy Hero out of position or effecting a rather hilarious escape plan. Like most Warriors, E.T.C. comes with a form of self-healing, Guitar Solo (E). This ability heals the Hero over 4 seconds (31 per second at level 1, 145 at level 20). For a heroic, the player is left with two interesting choices: Mosh Pit and Stage Dive. The former is the most often seen. After a short delay, enemies in an area around the Rock Star are stunned for 4 seconds. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), this ability can be interrupted and so requires good positioning in order to be effective. Stage Dive, meanwhile, is much easier to pull off. It is a global ability allowing E.T.C. to teleport to any location on the battlefield. Any enemies within the target area are damaged (220 at level 10, 340 at 20) and slowed for 3 seconds. All together, E.T.C.'s kit makes for an extremely durable and aggressive play-style allowing him to pick and choose his fights. The build shown focuses on furthering his sustainability and disruption. At level 1, the quintessential talent is Block. This is a generic talent available to multiple heroes that periodically reduces enemy Basic Attacks by 50%. It allows E.T.C. to absorb more of the enemy team's damage output and survive to tell the tale. Echo Pedal, at level 4, adds quite a bit of damage to his kit. Ability use triggers two pulses which damage enemies in a radius around his model (13 per pulse at level 1, 70 at 20). This talent alone allows our Chieftain to win lane against other Warriors. Guitar Hero on 7 is another great pickup. After using Guitar Solo (E), E.T.C.'s next basic attacks lands immediately, deals double damage, and heals for 50^% of the damage dealt. Late game having this talent can mean an extra 200 damage on a single attack as well as a small heal adding to his sustain both in and out of lane. Levels 13 and 16 see us add even further to his sustain whilst countering the enemies team comp. Relentless is great against teams with large amounts of stuns, silences, and roots and can mean the difference between life and death. Should the enemy team composition not offer much threat in that regard, Uber Rockstar is a great pickup. This talent adds 20% Move Speed to his passive. Combined with all of his abilities it makes for great chase and escape potential. At 16, we take Imposing Presence if the enemy Heroes largely rely on auto attacks for damage. Stoneskin is preferable if they thrive on large amounts of burst. At 20, we add one last piece to E.T.C.'s awesome kit, Bolt of the Storm. This talent makes it easy for E.T.C. to initiate engagements by teleporting into the enemy team or catch heroes slightly out of position. Of course, it also doubles as a nifty escape should the situation turn for the worse. With a large health pool and decent amounts of damage, E.T.C. causes more disruption than most teams can handle. He is a fun hero to play with a funky play style. Easy to pickup and offering great utility in multiple compositions, E.T.C. is a must have for any warrior player's hero pool. Talents (hotkey): Lvl 1 - Block (Innate) Lvl 4 - Echo Pedal (Q, W, E, R) Lvl 7 - Guitar Hero (E) Lvl 10 - Mosh Pit/Stage Dive (R) Lvl 13 - Relentless/Uber Rockstar (E) Lvl 16 - Imposing Presence/Stoneskin (1) Lvl 20 - Bolt of the Storm (2) Remember, there's always more than one way to play a hero and some of these talents will ideally change depending on the composition of both teams and the map, but this is a good start for someone with little experience looking to solo queue.
