This will cause a temporary departure from the ABC soap opera. York, who has been part of the General Hospital family since the early nineties, disclosed his diagnosis of Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and Multiple Myeloma (MM), both serious blood cancers. Of note, in his recent video message to his fans (which you can see in our video), he never used the word "cancer" calling it a disorder. But it is most assuredly cancer. Despite the severity of his medical condition, York remains optimistic, planning to take a 3-4 month hiatus for treatment and recovery, assuring fans of his return to the show. The actor's disclosure has echoed through the General Hospital community, with fans and co-stars rallying their support. York is now seeking a blood stem cell transplant to combat the diseases.
