About the speaker: Anna Briem, Grand Valley State University After graduating from the University of North Alabama with a degree in marine biology, Anna worked in Alaska for six years as a fisheries biologist on commercial fishing vessels. After moving to Michigan, Anna started her graduate work at Grand Valley State University and will graduate with a Master’s in biology About the webinar: Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) is one of the most aggressive aquatic invasive species threatening Northwest Michigan’s lakes. Since its discovery in Lake Leelanau, the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and the Lake Leelanau Lake Association have worked together to control EWM utilizing benthic barriers made of biodegradable burlap.
