In this episode from Brew Beer101 I show you how to make your own Sparge arm for mashing with any type of round mash tun. This includes the Brew Monk and the Brewster Beacon etc. The Sparge Arm is vital homebrew brewing equipment especially on higher mash volumes with lower mash temps. In this video I make the Sparge arm using less than £20 worth of materials all be it with tools I already own. Using 15mm Pipe instead of 10mm means that it allows for higher Sparge flows and distributes the flow more evenly across the outlet holes. By using a Sparge arm instead of pouring jugs over the grain means for an overall better product at the end. It does this by not risking a short circuiting of Sparge water through the grain caused by disturbing the grain bed allows sparge water to run clear through the grain bed picking up less particulates. This then allows for more consistency and control during the sparging process.
