This is the first of two special webinars with international speakers hosted by Scottish Drugs Forum for International Overdose Awareness Day 2020. Around the world, people who use drugs have, for many years, created unions, groups and networks to advocate for drug policies and practices that support harm reduction, health promotion and human rights. In this first webinar we hear about the history of the movement, the challenges and the progress made from advocates and activists in the Netherlands, Norway and Ukraine. Speakers included: Theo Van Dam from the Netherlands, is the founder of Landelijk Steunpunt Druggebruikers (LSD) Foundation, The Dutch National Interest Group of Drug Users Olga Belyaeva from Ukraine is Programme Coordinator for the Eurasian Network of People Who Use Drugs (ENPUD) Arild Knutsen from Norway leads the Association for Humane Drug Policy The session will be chaired by Jason Wallace, Scottish Drugs Forum. The second webinar for IOAD is entitled 'The dual public health emergency and advocating for change' and will have speakers from Canada and Australia.
