Totnes is on the line from Exeter St Davids towards Plymouth. The station is managed by Great Western Railway with both Great Western Railway and Cross Country Trains services regularly calling here, Long distance services also call here these are operated by: Cross Country Trains who use a variety of traction including Class 220/221 DMU's and also High Speed Trains (Class 43) these Cross Country Train services operate almost every hour to Plymouth, this frequency is the same for Cross Country Trains services heading north; Great Western Railways long distance services call here on services between Plymouth and London Paddington and vice versa using Class 800-802 DEMU's, these services operate roughly hourly towards Plymouth and London Paddington, At the time of filming Class 43 High Speed Train (Castle Class) sets operated most services here, these Castle Class sets were made up of 4 Mark 3 Coaches and two Class 43 Powercars; these sets being created after the withdrawal of the standard High Speed Train from the Great Western Railway network in 2019. Before these Castle sets were introduced local services were operated using a mix of Class 150/153 and Class 158 Diesel Multiple Units.
