The Alishan Forest Railway is now a touristic network in the Alishan Recreation Area in Taiwan. However originally it was built by the Japanese colonialist power in order to exploit the millennia old cypresses of Alishan that were considered precious wood for luxury house and furniture constructions. This is the first of a series of videos from the Alishan Forest Railway. We enjoy the trains passing some scenic spots of the network and take a ride on the Zhushan line - a part of the network operating only in the earliest morning to a sunrise viewing platform.
