At least two chicks! I spot them at the very end but you can barely see them. At 0:55 I throw a cane toad. I'm sure someone was wondering what I was getting rid of and you don't see it. Bales, food but no take-away. Dad got a baby centipede, they both ate dried mealworms – which is great! I was checking the camera angle at 8:20 and completely missed him scarfing the baby centipede. Since I figured it was hiding I decided to try and help him find it. 19:30 – Dad gets a larvae out of a mud-nest and eats it. It's probably a beetle larvae as beetles commonly make a chamber as they transform into adulthood. He's found a few chambers under these bales around the chook manure. They're getting more comfortable eating dried mealworms! If one of them is injured again and has trouble finding food mealworms will be a good basis for me helping them out. It was really tricky catching grasshoppers and other insects for Dad when he was hurt. Sometimes it seemed like there was nothing about but I still had to find food for him. And he didn't like the mealworms back then. I'm pretty sure mealworms are too crunchy to take back for the chicks so they are a parent-only food unless the chicks start coming for bales. I'll just have to remember to feed them more from time to time so they stay comfortable eating them. Cheers folks!
