Inspector Harry Callahan meets the new traffic police officers inside the S.F.P.D. shooting range. It turns out that the rookies are on almost equal terms with him in revolver marksmanship. Trivia: Harry mentions that he uses "light specials" in his S&W M29. This could mean that he uses weaker .44 Special ammunition instead of .44 Magnum in his revolver. However the dialogue in this scene was fluffed up by the casting crew . Eastwood actually meant to say a lightly loaded .44 Magnum load. This scene was in fact shot in the Oakland Police Department's shooting range, not San Francisco's.
