Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, deputy chairman and chief executive officer of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, for a luncheon discussion on the future of energy transition in the Middle East. Shaikh Nawaf will offer insights into KPC’s approach to the energy transition, drawing from his experience at the helm of one of the world’s leading energy companies. His lecture will address how producers in the region are adapting to ongoing shifts across the geopolitical and international commerce landscape. A moderated Q&A will follow the lecture. Al-Sabah was appointed deputy chairman and chief executive officer of Kuwait Petroleum Corp. (KPC) on March 16, 2022. Established as a state-owned corporation in 1980, KPC manages Kuwait’s hydrocarbons resources through eight operating subsidiaries involved in production, refining, transportation, and marketing. Before his current role, Shaikh Nawaf served as president and CEO of KPC Holdings (Aruba) AEC, the corporation’s international downstream subsidiary, where he focused on strategic, high-value projects for Kuwait’s energy sector. Previously, he was CEO of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co. (KUFPEC), the international upstream arm of KPC, where he led significant expansion and doubled production during his nearly nine-year tenure. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership roles at KPC, including deputy managing director and general counsel. He also served as head of KPC’s Washington Office and worked as a corporate attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
