Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies with Glaze Icing Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 egg 1/2 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt Glaze Icing 1 lb (3-3/4 cups) powdered sugar 1/4 cup corn syrup approx 1/4 cup water gel food coloring as desired Directions: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then sour cream and vanilla. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt: gradually beat into creamed mixture. Divide dough into three portions. Shape each into a disk: wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until easy to handle. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough to 1/4” thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutters to prevent sticking. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until light brown. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Decorate cookies as desired with glaze icing and fun sprinkles. Helpful Hint: You can freeze unbaked cookie cutouts on baking sheets until firm. Place in freezer bags. Freeze up to 3 months. No need to thaw. You can bake cookies as directed, adding an extra minute or two to baking time. Directions for Glaze Icing: Mix all ingredients together on lowest mixer setting. Mix well for at least one minute. For a printable recipe , visit https://www.mypricechopper.com/recipe...
