✔️ 1 cup warm water (100-110°F / 38-43°C) ✔️ 1 tbsp sugar ✔️ 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast ✔️ 3 cups bread flour ✔️ 2 tsp kosher salt ✔️ 1 tsp garlic powder ✔️ 1 tsp olive oil ✔️ 4 tbsp butter, melted ✔️ 1 tsp Italian seasoning Instructions 1) In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Whisk briefly to aerate, then cover and let sit for about 10 minutes, until the yeast becomes foamy and bloomed. 2) In a separate bowl, whisk together the bread flour, salt, and garlic powder. 3) Once the yeast is activated, add the olive oil to the mixture. 4) Gradually add 1/3 to 1/2 of the dry ingredients into the stand mixer bowl. Mix on low speed until combined. 5) Add the remaining flour mixture and continue mixing. If the dough is too dry, add a small splash of water until it reaches a slightly tacky consistency that doesn’t stick to the bowl. 6) Once fully incorporated, increase the mixer speed and knead for about 6 minutes, until the dough is soft, smooth, and springs back when lightly pressed. 7) Lightly grease the sides of the mixing bowl with olive oil. 8) Cover and let the dough rise for 60-90 minutes, or until doubled in size. 9) Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it into a 14 to 16-inch log. 10) Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. 11) Roll each piece into a rope and tie it into a simple overhand knot. 12) Place the knots on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise again for another 60 minutes. 13) Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). 14) Melt 4 tbsp of butter and mix in Italian seasoning. 15) Brush the risen knots generously with the seasoned butter. 16) Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with marinara sauce and enjoy!
