#flytyingjunkie #flytying #flyfishing #nymphs Order Ephemeroptera, Family Heptageniidae are a mayfly with over 500 confirmed species.  Mayfly larvae have the following characteristics:  Body segments: Three body segments Legs: Six legs Gills: Delicate gills on the sides of the abdomen Tails: Two or three tails Length: Usually 2-32mm in length Color: Tend to be gray, yellow, or brown Abdominal length: Long, thin abdomens Heptageniidae nymphs have long maxillary palps that they use to strain plankton. Heptageniidae nymphs can usually be found in lotic and lentic (erosional) areas. They are generally clingers and can be often found on submerged rocks. This pattern is tied on a jig style hook so it can ride along the bottom without hanging up as often.
