7 day American Lager courtesy of Omegas Lutra Kveik yeast. A very simple grain bill that contains: 7lb Pilsner Malt 4lb Flaked Rice 1 Hop addition at 30 minutes 1oz Hallertua Mittlefrueh Why I put the chiller in at 30? Brain fart… should have been 15 minutes I used almost a tablespoon of yeast nutrients @ 15 minutes. Kveik needs more than the standard amount. The last time I made a Lutra light lager, it produced a sulfur smell with double the yeast nutrients, so I added a little more this time around. When it was finished fermenting it still had a slight sulfur smell, but I let it sit in the fermenter for 2 more days and the smell was gone. Clarifying agent: Biofine- gave it a great clear look to the beer. All in all it’s a good summer beer that comes in at 4.6% ABV. With family coming to town in a week, hopefully they’ll like the options that will be available out of the kegerator. Onto my next brew day.
