My dad and I finally decided to take the one mile hike down to the secluded Chevelon Canyon Lake on the Mogollon Rim in search of large Rainbow and Brown Trout. The stories we were told was there were 30+ inch trout in Chevelon because there was limited access to the lake and deep waters. While told these storites, I was still surprise and the first fish I hooked into didn't disappoint. Fishing in our standard set-up with Float Tubes and Fly Rods the fishing for Giant Trout was found here in this artificial lure only lake. Fly Fishing Arizona in my float tube is one of the my favorite experiences. I have had the two fish days (watch this video) and I have had the 30 fish days but I'm never bored. Spoiler alert, I ended the day with two 20+ inch trout and my dad caught three as well. Every fisherman knows that working a new lake can be difficult to determine the right depths, lures/flys, and well - luck, I can tell you that while the quantity wasn't there today, the quality sure did show up. Couple things on Chevelon Canyon Lake: 1. two trout limit - this helps keep the fish strong and longer. 2. this is a mile hike down to the lake - going down not hard - coming up is hard especially after kicking around in the float tube for hours Check out these other videos on my channel: Bear Canyon Lake - before the stocking • Monster Rainbow Trout - Fly Fishing Catch ...
