1983. Geraldo Rivera for 20/20 Eyewitness News brings us an extended profile and interview with Phoebe Snow. The rendition of 'Poetry Man' and other songs later in this segment are beautiful pieces of music. We briefly see Phoebe singing with Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt and hear more bits of music throughout the segment. Phoebe chose not to institutionalize her daughter Valerie, who suffered from severe brain damage. Ms. Snow turned down many promising career options and disbelieved the doctors who told her young Valerie would never sit up, deciding to care for her daughter herself at home. Phoebe Snow's daughter passed away at age 31, in 2007. Phoebe passed away in 2011.
