When the basic forms of government fail the society, these judges take up the roles of a judge, jury, and executioner, all in one! Judge Dredd has the job of restoring order in a decaying society, sometimes by brute force, and sometimes even by rebelling against the authorities. The Judge Dredd universe does have a fearsome antagonist to deal with in the form of Judge Death. He commands a force called the Dark Judges, and these undead abominations view any form of life as a crime because only the living can commit crimes. Dark Judges come from the Deadworld realm, and Judge Death’s extreme measures get him the name. After finishing off life in their world, they take on Mega-City One, the future of the cities of North America. They are faced with resistance from the likes of Judge Dredd, and their brutalities come to life in some very exciting comic books. The haunting part about this twisted universe is how the present-day world is slowly collapsing to look like this!
