PIND SHANKAR MR Records is delighted to announce the release of a new song titled "Pind Shankar” by Parmjit Pammi, dedicated to her late father, Naranjan Singh Purewal. Parmjit Pammi holds the distinction of being the very first singer from Shankar village to be recorded by EMI record label in the 1980s. Her pioneering role paved the way for other esteemed artists from Shankar, including K.S. Makhan and Kuldeep Purewal. Shankar village boasts a renowned reputation, with illustrious personalities such as Sardar Swaran Singh (Defence minister of India), Sardar Balbir Singh (health minister of Punjab), Joginderpal Pandey (cabinet minister), Chaudhary Darshan Singh (chairman of Mandikaran Board, Punjab), and Sardar Balraj Singh Takhar ( Lt. General Indian Army ). Notably, Shankar was also home to Gurdawar Singh, a widely celebrated heavyweight wrestler (pehlwaan) alongside Chain Singh, Sarwan Singh, and Dhian Singh. The village takes pride in Harminder Singh Ghugga, one of the best Kabbadi players in Punjab. Lakhi Takher was the first actor from Shankar to venture to Mumbai with fame in hit movies such as Guddo and Rano. Tarsem Purewal, an editor of the renowned newspaper 'Des Pardes,' hails from Shankar. The village is associated with numerous other notable figures, contributing to its rich cultural tapestry.
