Everyone is looking for more power out of the Porsche 356 & 912 and 6 cyl engines are pretty hard to squeeze in! But a 4 cyl will fit in there! In the early 1990s Dean Polopolous (where the Polo name comes from) sliced out the middle cyls out of a Flat 6 and welded it all back together. Then he cast a block and components to create the 2.4 litre twin plug Polo 930-4 engine kit which comprises of: Crankcase (Polopolous reckons it’s stronger than any 6 cyl engine and uses special alloys and heated to aerospace standards with 5 journal supports for added strength) Crankshaft (machined from chrome moly billet known as kryptonite which is the alloy of choice in NASCAR, drag racing, etc.) Camshafts (machined from billet) Oil pump drive (Couples the oil pump to intermediate shaft) You can buy a full kit that comes with all the parts needed (most parts are sourced from the 994) or source yourself. Carbs or EFI is optional. The POLO engine just under 8 cm longer and 9 kg heavier that the original 1.6. (The engine in the video is 2.4 litre and has around 170-180 hp) Most the POLO engines go into the 356 912 starting to become popular The 912 featured in the video also has oil cooling upgrades (front and rear), suspension includes upgraded torsion bar, there’s a 5-speed 901 sports clutch and flywheel while it also has AP Racing 4 pots at front. #porsche #polo #engine
