What are the essential gear and items you will need on trail or during an ultra marathon? Because when you're in the wild, you have to have the right gear to face the unexpected. It can quickly because a safety issue if you do not carry the essentials. At the same time, trail running is, well, running. And you can't carry EVERYTHING otherwise your pack will be too heavy.
