Endophthalmis in a case of ROP following intravitreal bevacizumab injection

This is a case of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) born at 27 weeks of gestation. She received intravitreal bevacizumab for ROP at another institution at 40 th week of gestation. She presented with endophthalmitis 1 week after the injection. A through pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy is done to enhance visibility. Unfortunately it was seen that she only had zone 2 ROP. Silicone oil was injected in this first procedure due to the retinectomy that occurred during the peripheral vitrectomy. Six months later silicone oil was removed and the epiretinal membrane and posterior hyaloid complex was removed up to the equator. Silicone oil was again injected in this second procedure to prevent undesirable consequences. Silicon oil was removed 4 months after the second procedure. Retina still remains attached with some optic disc pallor. Aphakic rehabilitation is being done with the contact lens.
