Becoming a Mountain Bike Privateer at 32 | This is Michelle Muldoon

Michelle Muldoon has recently become one of the most well regarded names in the Irish MTB scene. Taking up the sport in 2012 by diving into the deep end of the Irish Gravity Enduro Series, she quickly learned about the technical, rooty and steep terrain that a 100mm travel Giant XTC cross-country bike may not be used to. Following her new found passion to the end of that season and an overall series title for the Sport Category. Continuing on from her success nationally, Michelle soon took to the Enduro World Series to try her luck amongst the Enduro elite. Luck struck at Austria/Slovenia EWS round of 2018 as she held strong over an incredibly long weekend of racing to beat closest challenger Austria’s Birgit Braumann by just three seconds. Speaking to Freewhelin.ie at the time: “Three years ago, I set myself the goal of standing on an EWS podium. I was never 100% sure it was possible and especially never dreamed I’d be standing on the top step,” told Muldoon. “I can’t put into words how much this means to me and how fan-bloody-tastic it feels to achieve what I thought was unachievable."
