The title Concert d'aujourd'hui can be translated to "modern-day concert" or "concert today". Piazzolla's passion in both tango and classical music and his vision in composing tangos that could be performed in concert halls worldwide, had inspired him to create new tango styles that blended in elements of Jazz and classical music. In the Histoire du Tango, Piazzolla not only introduced us the various styles of Tango at different times in the 20th century, but also revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style called Nuevo Tango. Concert d'aujourd'hui is a great achievement of such fusion, a new tango that incorporates chromatic harmony, displacement of accents, somewhat eccentric and less tonal melodies and also jazz-like improvisation elements, which clearly distinguished itself from the other three tangos in the Histoire.
