Howie Mandel is a monster! "Little Monsters" Review • 1989

Come visit a world where horror is disguised as a children's movie... 1989's Little Monsters follows an 11 year old boy, Brian Stevenson (played by Fred Savage) whose family just moved to suburban Boston, and he's struggling to fit in. Strange things start happening around the house and Brian is blamed for the mess and pranks. His 6 year old brother, Eric (played by Fred's real life brother, Ben) claims that a monster comes out from under his bed at night. Trying to prove his younger brother wrong (and makes a few bucks from him along the way) Brian switches bedrooms with Eric for the night... and mysterious things happen which prompts Brain to set a trap to capture the monster... The film is intended for kids, although there is definitely adult humor sprinkled throughout. The monster, we later learn, is named Maurice, and he is played by Howie Mandel. Howie makes us become attached to the monster under the bed; he's friendly, obnoxious, funny and sometimes scary -- everything you would expect from a monster. Have you watched this film, yet?
