Step-by-step conversion of a simple wine / whiskey barrel into a storage cabinet. I love the timeless style of a good barrel, and carving out a door and shelf make it a much more practical piece of furniture. Tips: A barrel with eight hoops will work a tad better than a barrel with only six hoops - the extra hoops help the door maintain its shape / strength a little better. Make sure the hoops are secured with at least a few screws before cutting and drilling the door out - if you let the barrel completely fall apart, good luck putting it back together! You'll want a screw on every stave in the door, as they will fall out otherwise. The rest of the barrel remains under tension, and only needs a handful of screws to keep it together.
