More info, data and photos: https://it.motor1.com/reviews/754861/... In the automotive industry, we hear more and more about cars that are called super hybrids, or super hybrids. It is a definition that - for example - Volkswagen has started to adopt with its latest generation of plug-in hybrids (such as the Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Tiguan and Volkswagen Passat); like the Chinese group Chery, with models such as the Jaecoo 7. These are hybrid vehicles that are recharged on the move or by connecting to a power outlet, and have larger batteries than other similar cars belonging to the previous generation. They are therefore able to declare 100% electric driving ranges of 100 km or even more, keeping the petrol engine off. In the case of the car featured in this road test, we are talking about 145 km of WLTP autonomy: it is the C10 REEV, an SUV from the Chinese brand Leapmotor, part of the Stellantis group, which can also be technically defined as an electric car with a range extender. Here's how it is made and how it goes. The Chinese brand Leapmotor is 21% controlled by the Stellantis group, which has already introduced two models into its dealer network, the Leapmotor T03 and Leapmotor C10, which are now joined by the Leapmotor C10 REEV. The acronym REEV stands for Range Extender Electric Vehicle and identifies the new hybrid engine of the C10, a D-segment SUV already available in a 100% electric version. The C10 REEV is 4.74 meters long, 1.68 meters high and 1.90 meters wide. The wheelbase, however, is 2.83 meters. It therefore fits into the category of D-segment SUVs, i.e. medium-sized ones, which include cars such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Audi Q5, the BMW X3 or the Volvo XC60. The body shapes are smooth, very connected to each other, with few edges and uniform lines. The alloy wheels can be 18" or 20", depending on the trim. The trunk of the Leapmotor C10 REEV could be larger, in relation to the external dimensions of the car. In fact, it starts from a minimum capacity of 400 liters, due to the presence of the electric motor under the floor, which moves the car through rear-wheel drive. The chassis platform was conceived with the idea of creating a 100% electric car, capable of also becoming a hybrid car. Under the floor, therefore, remains a good part of the traction battery, freeing up some space towards the rear for the petrol tank (50 litres), which powers the front petrol engine. The interior habitability is therefore excellent, on a par with that of the electric motor, thanks above all to the Cell-to-Chassis architecture which allows for better integration of the battery pack into the body structure. The rear passengers therefore have plenty of freedom of movement, also because the floor is perfectly flat. The dashboard has been designed with an interface that does not include physical buttons, with the exception of those on the steering wheel, taking inspiration from Tesla. The instrumentation in front of the driver is 10.25" and the touchscreen in the centre is 14.6". The Leap OS 4.0 operating system, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, is connected via 4G to receive updates from the network, regarding infotainment and driving assistance systems and powertrain management. In the future, therefore, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto could be integrated, which is not currently present. On the central tunnel there is a cup holder, next to the wireless charging for the phone (not refrigerated) and above a shelf with the 12 V, USB A and USB C sockets. The storage compartment that is under the armrest, in the middle of the seats, is quite roomy, unlike the glove compartment on the right side, in front of the passenger, while the pockets on the door panels are standard. The seats are covered in synthetic leather, with particularly soft padding, and the richer trims also include heating, ventilation and electric adjustments. The list price of the Leapmotor C10 REEV is 37,400 euros, or 38,900 euros in the richer trim called Design. With the launch offer, the starting price drops to 33,900 euros, and there is the alternative possibility of financing with a 7,534 euro down payment and a 199 euro monthly payment, or a 36-month long-term rental, with a 5,699 euro down payment and a 429 euro monthly payment.
