If you follow such kind of devotional Niyams it will help you to connect with God, it will purify your emotions & thoughts It has so many scientific advantages related to our mental & physical fitness. Our ancient Sages were so intelligent, visionary & knowledgeable, why? Because they used to do the penance. When you reduce the gratification of senses, your mind Power increases, your memory power also increases. How many Niyams you take is not important but how honestly & regularly you follow the Niyams till the end of Chaturmas is most important Chaturmas (Sanskrit: चातुर्मास, Cāturmāsa) is a holy period of four months (July to October), beginning on Shayani Ekadashi—the eleventh day of the bright half, Shukla paksha, of Ashadh (fourth month of the Hindu lunar calendar)—until Prabodhini Ekadashi, the eleventh day of the bright half of Kartik (eighth month of the Hindu lunar calendar) in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. [11:28 AM, 6/30/2020] Osho Kothari: Chaturmas is reserved for penance, austerities, fasting, bathing in holy rivers and religious observances for all. Devotees resolve to observe some form of vow, be it of silence or abstaining from a favourite food item, or having only a single meal in a day. Penance, austerities, religious observances, recital of mantras, bathing in holy rivers, performing sacrifices, and charity are prescribed. Fasts and purity during this period help maintain health,[3] for which there is likely a scientific rationale, disease spreading more readily with the onset of monsoon.[citation needed] A number of Hindus, particularly those following the Vaishnav tradition, refrain from eating onions and garlic during this period.[7] In Maharashtra, a number of Hindu families also do not eat any egg plant (Brinjal / Aubergene) preparations.
