What is Charas? Charas is a type of cannabis concentrate or resin that is traditionally produced in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in the Himalayan regions. It is made from the resinous trichomes found on the buds and leaves of the cannabis plant. To create charas, cultivators gently rub their hands over mature cannabis plants, collecting the resin that sticks to their palms and fingers. This collected resin is then rolled and pressed into a solid, dark-colored mass. The process requires skill and experience to ensure the resin is properly collected without damaging the plant. Charas is known for its potent psychoactive effects due to its high concentration of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. The THC content in charas can range from moderate to high levels. When consumed, it produces a strong euphoric high and can have sedative, relaxing, and mood-enhancing effects. What is Bhang? It refers to a traditional cannabis preparation made from the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. The leaves and flowers are ground into a paste or blended with milk, water, or yogurt to create a beverage. Bhang is often consumed during festivals and celebrations, particularly during the Hindu festival of Holi. It is regarded as a cultural and religious drink and has a milder psychoactive effect compared to charas.
