The second leg of Freestyle Grand Slam Tour 2025 kicks off on the 7th of April 2025 in Paris. These are the players: Magnus Carlsen, D. Gukesh, Hikaru Nakmaura, Fabiano Caruana, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Vincent Keymer, Arjun Erigaisi, R. Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi, Richard Rapport, MVL and Ian Nepomniachtchi. Format: The first stage will have a 12-player round robin of 11 rounds with a time control of 10 mins + 5 seconds increment. Top 8 qualify for quarter finals, last 4 will play for the 9th spot. The second stage will be the knockouts (Quarterfinals, Semi-finals, Finals) where each match will last 2 classical games. 90 mins + 30 seconds increment. In case of a 1-1 tie - Game 3+4 = 10’+10’’ / Game 5+6 = 5’+2’’ / Game 7 = Armageddon. Prize money: 1st place - US$ 200,000 2nd place - US$ 140,000 3rd place - US$100,000 With a total prize fund of US$680,000. The players will also get Grand Slam tour points at this event. 1st place - 25 points, 2nd place 18 points, all the way up to 1 point for the 10th place. 7th and 8th April is the Round Robin in Rapid. 9th and 10th Quarterfinals, 11th and 12th Semi finals and 13th and 14th will be the finals!
