The concept of FRAGMENTED NARRATIVES, infinitely complex with ideas of disruption, destruction, abandonment, loss and pain, can, paradoxically, allow for a positive genesis of new associations: new histories from old bones. It can allude to a hybrid identity within oneself, binary in nature: the good and the bad. Fragments of quotidian objects embed their signs within our hearts and minds as personal histories we carry around invisibly. Fragments, as potent symbols of past associations, events and histories, have given rise to myths, legends or evolutionary histories, such as the rise of life forms from the sea. Between humans, fragmented narratives in social discourse, physically or emotionally, person-to-person, have reached universal scale presently with the advent of lockdown and social distancing regulations during the Covid 19 pandemic. But in our time, the greatest impact of the concept of fragmented narratives centres around the catastrophic destruction by humans of the earth’s natural environment.
