Can you put Matte over Gloss Varnish on a painting? See what happens when you apply matte varnish over gloss varnish. I have applied 2 coats of gloss varnish to one of my pour paintings and I really don't like the shine on it. I don't think it is the right finish for this painting, Id prefer a matte finish, so I'm going to apply a matte varnish over the high gloss varnish on my painting to see if I can get rid of the shine.
