Plan to arrive by 9:30am Pre-service checks Check both women’s and men’s restrooms for cleanliness and ensure all paper products as well as soap are well stocked. Remove any trash from the floor and flush toilets as needed. Confirm all lights are on and temperature is comfortable. In the Nursery, check that doors are securely locked and the space is neat and tidy. Walk through the sanctuary and ensure the space is also ready to receive guests by removing any trash from the seats and floor. Assemble service folders Service folders outer covers are printed weekly and can be found on the copier. If they are not ready, please see Pastor. Service folders are filled with offering envelopes, connect cards and occasional flyers and a pen is attached. All materials can be found in baskets stored on a small table outside the Fellowship Hall. The table also holds offering plates. Greet guests Weather permitting open the doors at both entrances and greet each guest as they arrive. If it is too hot or cold, please open one door and stand just inside. Offer each guest a service folder. Take notice of visitors and ensure they are welcomed warmly. Be available to before and during the service to answer questions, assist late arrivals with finding a seat. Keep an eye on both entrances throughout the service and alert the sound techs if any issues arise that require attention. Please utilize seats available and remain in the lobby throughout the service. Offering collection For those guests who prefer to give in person offering is collected after the sermon. Connect cards are also available for guests to check into the service and share prayer requests. These are also collected during the offering time. Use the offering plates and pass one plate on each side starting in the front of the sanctuary and moving to the back. Offer the plate to each row and pass it as needed. Once everything is collected, one usher will take both plates forward and hand them to Pastor then return to their seat in the lobby. Communion Communion is offered twice a month. During distribution ushers will assist with dismissing guests to go forward and receive communion. This requires one usher for each side. Beginning with the left side, that usher will dismiss 4-6 guests to go forward and receive communion from Pastor and his assistant. As those guests are receiving communion, the usher for the right side will dismiss 4-6 guests to go forward. As the left side is dismissed and those guests return to their seats, 4-6 more guests on the left side can be invited to go forward. Repeat alternating sides until all guests have been served. Ushers may join the last group before returning to their seats in the lobby. After service Please disassemble extra service folders and return pens and materials to the baskets on the table. The covers for that week can be recycled. Do a final sweep of the sanctuary to straighten chairs and remove any trash. Lost and found items can be taken to the Fellowship Hall and placed on the counter between the kitchen and office. THANK YOU FOR SERVING!
